Group Head of Urban Planning and Design - Rendeavour
Dean is an architect and urban designer driven by a passion for creating more sustainable, liveable, healthy, and vibrant cities. He has 25 years of experience with Australian firm Clarke Hopkins Clarke leading the design and delivery of some of Australians largest and most ambitious new urban developments ranging from new town centres, large-scale mixed-use projects, and urban renewal precincts. Now also working with Rendeavour in Africa, he gets the unique opportunity to help shape 6 new cities across Africa in countries including Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, which will provide homes and jobs to millions of Africans, and places for communities to thrive for decades to come.
New cities face a critical choice: embrace the wisdom of traditional urbanism or pioneer experimental designs for the future. This session brings together leading architects, planners, and developers to explore how urban design can blend heritage, cultural identity, and cutting-edge innovation to create cities that feel both familiar and forward-looking.
